Hard work

Do today what you wish to become tomorrow

So many people have wonderful dreams and hopes for their future. They plan to become something wonderful and get all excited about the future.

How do they fulfill those dreams? The answer lies in what they are doing in their today’s. As I write this I have a dream of loosing weight, gaining muscle and getting a lot fitter. At the age of 44 I somehow feel things a lot more than I use to. The muscles ache easier and to gain weight is so easy yet it is not healthy. I now have to watch what I eat and exercise daily which is no easy task especially with my screaming body and mind. The senses pick up every smell, the eyes see every cake, the mind tries to convince me that it won’t make a difference if I have one bite. Yet I know that in order to achieve my dream I must discipline this body today, one second at a time.

Its only been a couple of days but I have set the plan in motion and made myself accountable to my wife and kids, so that they can also help me keep on the straight and narrow. I also remind myself of a time in the past that I went through this and how I overcame the challenges. I can do it again.

Yes you can only achieve your dreams through the things you do in your today’s.

Follow through

It’s now the 14th January and the question I ask today is a simple one. Have I followed through on my commitments to myself this year?

The truth is that it is easy to commit but very difficult to follow through on the commitment. The reason is that habits that are deeply entrenched have to be broken. We have to discipline our bodies to do what we have committed them to do.

This is no easy task, but hey, great challenge equals great reward. Small challenge equals small reward.

May we not give up so easily  on our commitments this year.

God bless

Do

This two letter word is a gift for all of us in 2017. DO.

It is far easier to don’t than to do. It takes far less courage to don’t, far less energy and far less willpower. Be a doer in 2017.

There is a scripture in the bible that I love, it says “whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might” Ecclesiastes 9 verse 10. How true is that statement? Do it with all your might! Be strong this year. Be a better you by doing what you do with all your might. Don’t despise the day of small beginnings or you will quickly fall into the trap and stagnation of the don’ts.

Meditation is good however don’t spend all your time coveting what you want, rather do. Aim to be the best doer you have ever been. Outperform yourself. Spend your energy constructively being a doer.

May you have an excellent 2017 doing what you do. My commitment to you this year is that I will DO a post daily on this site to inspire and challenge all that wish to read it. Look forward to engaging with you tomorrow.

God bless

The power of patience

PatienceSo many people have been robbed as a result of faulty thinking. The world promotes speed. High speed internet connection. Instant coffee, instant fast food. Instant satisfaction.

The demand for speed has resulted in so much deception and despondence. You may have a fantastic business, a fantastic idea or just something utterly marvelous and yet because you have set the bar so high you are ready to give up. How many great plans have been trashed as a result of unrealistic expectations? A great definition of patience is “the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, problems, or suffering without becoming annoyed or anxious” (Google search).

How many are willing to “tolerate delay… without becoming annoyed or anxious?” . Maybe the path has been long, and difficult but that is no reason to give up. The roots of a tree first give way to obstacles and grow around them however over time as they get stronger and bigger they eventually crush that obstacle. If you can give yourself one gift today, give yourself the gift of patience. Encourage yourself not to give up. Not to surrender.

You may be obscure today however once you have persevered and built your business your obscurity will certainly diminish. The so called “lucky” break will come, as the famous golfer Billy Sr said  “The one thing I have found out is that the more I practice, the luckier I get.

Keep going… don’t give up

Do not despise the day of small beginnings

Everything starts small before it becomes big. The human being starts as a small little egg in the womb of its mother. The giant tree starts as a small seed in the ground. It would be a foolish thing to look at a seed and despise it as without the seed there can be no tree.

So many of us are not prepared to do the small and as a result never get to do the big. We want but we don’t have. If only they taught children in school the principle that the instantaneous is but a dream and not reality. The games they play on their iPad did not miraculously appear but were developed for many months before they saw the light of day. The principle of hard work never killed anyone yet without hard work their can be no life.

May we not despise the day of small beginnings.
