Steven Jacobs

Is a seasoned global leader with 30 years of experience in financial services across the UK, Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa. He has led teams of more than 600 people, supported thousands of frontline staff and collaborated with leaders across 18 international markets.

His leadership career includes senior roles at HSBC, Standard Chartered Bank and Absa, a subsidiary of the Barclays Africa Group, where he focused on customer experience, operations, leadership development and large-scale team transformation. He holds an MBA from Oxford Brookes University, which strengthened his expertise in leadership, organisational behaviour and people development. Throughout his career, he has coached, trained and mentored hundreds of emerging leaders and supported managers at every stage of their development journey. His first book, The New Manager (Penguin South Africa, 2016), earned a positive unsolicited review from acclaimed business reviewer Ian Mann, who selected it as one of his top six business books of the year. Its reception opened doors to interviews on leading South African talk radio stations, including CapeTalk and 702, where Steven spoke about the realities facing new managers and the practical steps they can take to transition into confident leaders.

Steven has spoken at major leadership conferences, including Allan Lloyds, and has delivered talks for HSBC and Absa Barclays. He has also been invited as a keynote speaker for the 2026 International Conference on Innovative Research Practices in Social Sciences.
